BEATLES GUITARS PART 1 - JOHN LENNON

Some guitars are famous because they are the best there is, some play well, some just look good and some are Beatle guitars.  Unknown brands that were thrust into the limelight by the world's best little rock n roll band.

Case in point.  In the early 1960 the Rickenbacker guitar company was in trouble.  Sales were not great.  Unknown to them, in 1960 a young Liverpudlian Teddy Boy called John Lennon bought a Rickenbacker Capri 325 which he would later spray black.

This was the model John played on the Beatles most famous television appearance, the first Ed Sullivan show.

Whilst in America John was presented with a custom made 12 string Rickenbacker 325 model, you can see and hear the difference in the next Ed Sullivan appearance.

John also very briefly used a red Rickenbacker 1996.  His other two most famous guitars were the Gibson J-160E, his Jumbo, and his originally Sunburst Epiphone Casino which he later stripped back to it's natural wooden look.  He also briefly played a six string Fender bass, a Les Paul Jnr and a Stratocaster.
