BEATLES GUITARS PART 2 - PAUL McCARTNEY

Paul McCartney started off as a lead/rhythm guitarist in the Beatles.  By his own admission he blew his first big chance of being the lead guitarist and ended up as rhythm guitar alongside John Lennon.  The guitar below is his Zenith.

For a while he then went on to use Rosetti Solid 7.

When John he got his Rickenbacker , Paul restrung his old guitar, the Hofner Club 40, and played it upside down, something he would do with many guitars over the years.

When it became apparent that Paul was going to be the bassist in the Beatles he spent some cash on a Hofner 500 Violin Bass, an instrument that would become iconic with him.  He bought a second model of this guitar a few years later as his first was becoming very over-used and the second one was of course a newer model.

Next guitar for Paul was a Ephiphone Texan Accoustic Guitar that he played on Yesterday.

His last famous bass was the Rickenbacker 4001 model which Paul used on Revolver ans Sgt Pepper mainly as it had a cleaner sound.  He also used this guitar when he played with Wings.

One last real guitar of note is the one Paul played on 'Taxman', another Ephiphone, this time the Casino.  This is probably one of the most famous guitar solos in the Beatles career and Paul also plays some amazing bass on the track.  Hear the ground-breaking solo from 1:11 in this video.
